As some of you know, I don’t live on Jost, but it is my favorite place on the planet. The people are so friendly, and as I stay there during some of my longer stays, I really enjoy getting to know the locals. When I was there over Bonnietmas last year, one of the locals had been to Florida to visit some friends. He drove from the east coast of Florida to the west coast of Florida. It took around 4 hours. After visiting the west coast of Florida, he and is wife were going to drive to Virginia.

Do you know, that he had NEVER driven in a car for 4 hours his entire life! He didn’t like being in a car that long, in fact he hated it! Needless to say, he didn’t drive to Virginia! He opted to fly the 1.5 hours, instead of driving the 15 hours plus. Imagine… being in your 30’s and never driving more than 30 minutes at a time. That is so amazing to me! What a different lifestyle the locals lead. When I asked him if he’d ever move off of Jost, he said absolutely not. He LOVED the lifestyle of his small Island! We do too!!
