Travel & Transportation
to Jost Van Dyke

Getting to Jost Van Dyke
Jost Van Dyke is a small island (4 mi. x 2 mi.), on the Northern portion of the British Virgin Islands just north of the U.S. Virgin Islands, St. Thomas and St. John. Population of the island is approximately 150 total.

Traveling to Jost Van Dyke is very easy to do. Most major U.S. Airlines fly into St. Thomas from major U.S. cities. Our recommendation for people coming from the U.S. is to fly directly into St. Thomas.

It is best to take the earliest flight out of your departure city and return on a late afternoon flight out of your arrival city.

Provisioning Information:
We now have provisioning service for our guests flying into St. Thomas. Please contact Bonnie Martin at 800-778-8066 or 410-571-6692, to find out more information about this convenient service!

Other options are to fly into San Juan, Puerto Rico or St. Martin, then connect to St. Thomas. This option is great for people traveling from Canada, Central / South America and Europe as most of their major airlines fly into both St. Martin and San Juan. You can also fly into Tortola.

Once in St. Thomas - you have several options for travel to Jost Van Dyke:

  • Monday - Thursday: Take a taxi to the ferry dock at Charlotte Amalie (5 minute cab ride) or Red Hook (30-40 minute cab ride) and then a ferry through West End, Tortola, British Virgin Islands, to Jost Van Dyke.
  • Friday - Sunday: Take a taxi to Charlotte Amalie ferry dock and ferry to West End, Tortola. Then the Paradise Express Ferry from West End to Jost Van Dyke. If traveling to Red Hook, then a ferry directly to Jost Van Dyke. The direct ferry from Red Hook to Jost Van Dyke are 8am and 2pm.
  • A private water taxi from Red Hook, (on the eastern part of St. Thomas) directly to Jost Van Dyke is available. You can hail a taxi to Red Hook from the airport. Information about the water taxi is available upon booking. This option saves you time, and the cost for the charter is comparable to your ferry costs, depending on how many people are traveling in your party. We recommend pricing both upon booking.

Once you arrive on Jost Van Dyke, we will assist you in arranging a 5-minute ride to your private villa or cottage.

You can get almost all of your shopping supplies in Jost Van Dyke. However, we recommend that you shop in St. Thomas or Tortola prior to arriving in Jost Van Dyke. Their selections are much larger and less expensive.

The Marina Market in Red Hook, St. Thomas is accustomed to helping our guests and will gladly box your groceries. They are open 6:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. 7 days a week.

Transportation on Jost Van Dyke:

On Jost Van Dyke, there are three bays, all facing south, and White Bay, where we are located, is the western most and least inhabited. Serenity and sunsets! "White Bay was named by Conde Naste Traveler Magazine as "one of the 10 best beaches in the world"! Great Harbor, just a 15 minute walk, is the "metropolis" of the island and has a Customs House, ferry dock and 5 restaurants, "Foxy's" being the most famous. Information about transportation is available in your villa.

"Thought I'd let you know what a fabulous and PERFECT stay we had at White Bay Villas! Couldn't have been more wonderful, and just the memories we wanted for our 10th anniversary. Thank you for making all the arrangements, etc. Taxi and water taxi were worth every cent, and made the trip going down so enjoyable and easy. We would recommend White Bay Villas to anyone, and will surely be back ourselves. Thank you!"
